Jimme E. Bowden, 81, went home to his Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, on October 9, 2016. He was born the youngest of the twelve children on May 24, 1935, in Clifford, IL, to August and Ethel Bowden. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Jim married Judith K. Martie in 1960, who survives. Also surviving are their four children: Tracy (Steve) Beck, Sarasota, FL; Troy (Becky) Bowden, Evansville, IN; Todd (Aimee) Bowden, North Port, FL; Tricia (SGM Marshall) McDonald, Spring Lake, NC. The grandchildren also survive: Heather, Ashley, Michael, Megan, Jonathan, Rachel, Abigail, Nathan, Alexandra, Ana, and Ethan. Several Great Grandchildren survive: Joshua, Gianna, Isabella, Noah, and Camilla. Jim was a faithful member of West Side Christian Church in Springfield, IL, where he ministered with the Floyd’s Follies for more than 20 years, served as a youth sponsor, a deacon, and a Bible study leader. He served the Springfield community through the Rotary Club and as a member and former president of the State of Illinois Retirement Association. He served his country when he was drafted into the Army in 1954. Jim was especially proud of his military service. Jim was employed for more than 25 years with the Illinois Department of Revenue, retiring in 1991. He truly believed God had blessed his life more than he could have ever imagined.

A famous Jim quote was, "Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem."

A visitation was held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Sarasota Christian Church in Sarasota, FL, followed by a funeral service with Pastor Lee Robison presiding. Interment followed at Sarasota National Cemetery.
